What’s a PPM military move?
A Personally Procured Move (PPM), also known as a Do-It-Yourself Move (DIY), is a move where you handle both planning and execution rather than the government setting it up for you. With this option, the government pays you 100% of what they would have paid government movers, and anything left after paying the moving company is yours to keep!
What documents do I need to get reimbursed for a PPM?
When it comes to military moves, the exact documentation varies but these documents are commonly required:
- DD Form 2278 (application for move and counseling checklist)
- DD Form 1351-2 (travel voucher)
- Copy of PCS travel orders
- Certified weight tickets
- Copy of paid rental agreement
- Copy of vehicle registration when utilizing POV

Top Notch Moving Services was amazing. I called the office last month and got a hold of a lady named Amy. I told her my situation and that I needed to be out of my condo the very next day and she said they were swamped that day, but let her work on some thing. She called me back an hour later and had a crew at my house the very next morning and they did a phenomenal job, I’m in a temporary home right now but when I’m ready to move again, I will definitely be calling them
